Prior to the redevelopment of a 42-acre commercial truck stop, Chastain-Skillman (CS) was contracted to conduct a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) in accordance with ASTM Standard Practice E 1527-13.  Phase I ESA results revealed several Potential Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) onsite including abandoned underground storage tanks (USTs), buried debris, and residual petroleum-related contamination from a former gasoline service station onsite.
Based upon Phase I ESA, CS conducted Phase II testing and site assessment activities which identified two areas with petroleum-related soil and/or groundwater impacts. Interim source removal activities at Area 1 resulted in the excavation/removal/disposal of 227.36 tons of petroleum-impacted soil.  Based upon these activities, and the results of post-removal soil and groundwater samples, the FDEP issued a Site Rehabilitation Completion Order for Area 1.
Interim source removal activities in Area 2 resulted in the excavation/removal/disposal of 3105.67 tons of petroleum-impacted soil.  Based upon these activities, and the results of post-removal soil and groundwater samples, the FDEP issues a No Further Assessment correspondence, which indicated they considered the Area 2 discharge closed.
As requested, CS conducted asbestos surveys of interior, exterior, and roof areas for the ten buildings located on the referenced property.  The surveys were completed during the time period from January 30 to February 2, 2015, by accredited facility inspectors, under the direction of a Florida-licensed Asbestos Consultant.
