Chastain-Skillman recently hired Max George, PS, CFM, as the new Director of Survey. Mr. George has over 30 years of experience in the industry, having worked on projects all over the world.

Mr. George will lead our Survey and GIS groups in his new role, answering the what and where questions for public and private clients alike. He is responsible for coordinating the equipment, workflows, personnel, support, and overall planning of Survey and GIS projects that support our client’s goals.

Before joining the Chastain-Skillman team, Mr. George was commissioned as an Engineer Officer with the US Army and was stationed in Germany, Missouri, and Colorado. He completed the Mapping, Charting, and Geodesy Officers Course on active duty, amongst other leadership and technical courses. Mr. George deployed as part of the first Gulf War/Desert Storm and later on as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Upon leaving active duty, he moved to southwest Michigan and became a Project Surveyor for Gove Associates, and then for the last 15 years, the Survey Group manager for Fleis & VandenBrink Engineering.

“My project experience is quite broad, having done boundary, riparian, topographic, hydrographic, site monitoring, 3D Laser scanning, and construction surveys as well as FEMA-related surveys. On 5 occasions, our projects won Survey Excellence Awards by ACEC-Michigan.  In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations I was responsible for training, equipping, business development, client relations, and quality control,” said Mr. George.

“The addition of Max is a significant addition to not only our survey team but to the firm leadership as well,” said VP of Operations Lennie Arnold, PE. “Max’s experience with advanced surveying techniques will allow CSI to advance our next-generation survey capabilities to a higher level to better serve our clients across our markets.”
