The Chastain-Skillman (CS) team attended our last career fair in February earlier this week. Throughout the month, Chastain-Skillman visited 3 states across the Southeastern U.S., attending career fairs at 4 great universities for engineering students. With the spring career fair season coming to a close for CS, read a little more about what schools we visited in February as we gear up for our last spring career fair next month.

Florida: USF & UCF

Our first career fairs of the month were in sunny Florida! Two of our Lakeland team members visited the University of South Florida (USF) for the Technical Professions day of their Spring 2023 Career Fair. The Technical Professions portion of the career fair was designed for students in engineering and other technical fields to learn about relevant internship and full-time opportunities.

Our own USF alumni, Andre (an engineer in our water/wastewater department) had a blast sharing his experiences at CS and discussing some exciting opportunities with his fellow USF Bulls.

We also had a great group of team members from both our Lakeland and Orlando offices make it out to the University of Central Florida (UCF) for their Spring 2023 Career Expo. UCF’s Career Expos are some of their biggest recruitment events, with over 1,000 students in attendance each semester.

Three of our UCF alumni on the CS team visited their alma mater once again to meet some of the incredible students and alumni in attendance at the expo. Sergio, Noah, and Bryan (engineers in our water/wastewater and civil departments) all had a great time sharing insights on their respective departments and meeting some of the incredible students and alumni in attendance at the expo.

Alabama: AU

Members of our Nashville team made the trip down to Alabama for Auburn University’s (AU) 2023 Civil & Environmental + Biosystems Engineering ASCE/ASABE Career Fair. Hosted by the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, the career fair is a joint effort between campus organizations at the university: the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) student branch and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) student chapter.

Proud AU alumni, Luke (an engineer in our civil department) had a great time visiting his alma mater with his fellow CS engineers. The team got to share some exciting opportunities at CS with a great group of engineering students and alumni involved in two amazing national organizations.

Tennessee: TTU

For our last fair of the month, CS’s Director and Assistant Director of Survey, Gordon and Brandon, visited East Tennessee State University (ETSU) for their annual CBAT career fair. ETSU’s College of Business and Technology (CBAT) hosts this fair annually to represent employers from both business and technology-related fields. Each year, hundreds of students are in attendance, making it one of the university’s premier recruiting events.

Gordon and Brandon got to meet with a lot of students and discuss some of the many opportunities CS has to offer in both surveying and engineering.

And just like that, our spring career fair season is coming to an end! Next month, the Chastain-Skillman team will be attending our last career fair of the spring semester. Find us at the Tennessee Tech Annual Spring Engineering Fair on March 7th to learn about our current full-time opportunities and our upcoming summer and fall internship opportunities before it’s too late!
