This week, the Chastain-Skillman (CS) team wrapped up our last career fair in January. Throughout the month, our team toured 2 Florida universities, attending a total of 3 career fairs and meeting hundreds of students involved in engineering and other related fields.
First Stop: Gainesville!
A few of our Lakeland team members made the road trip up to Gainesville to attend two spring events at the University of Florida (UF). First, the ESSIE Evening with Industry event on January 17th, hosted by the University of Florida Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure & Environment (ESSIE). The job, internship, and networking event was created to provide Coastal, Environmental, or Civil engineering companies— like Chastain-Skillman— the opportunity to meet with interested ESSIE students and alumni.
The CS team finished out their trip to Gainesville with UF’s Spring 2023 Career Showcase: Technical Day, the following morning. The Technical Day, hosted by UF’s Career Connections Center, focuses on opportunities in technical fields, like engineering, for all UF students and alumni. Each semester, the Showcase boasts over 5,000 students in attendance.
Our team had the opportunity to meet some incredible engineering students and alumni at both events. Go Gators!
Finishing Strong: Tallahassee!
For our last career fair in January, a duo from our Lakeland team visited the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering in Tallahassee. The joint college of engineering hosted its STEM Career & Internship Fair on January 24th, welcoming engineering students and other technical majors from Florida State University (FSU) and Florida A&M University (FAMU).
One of CS’s very own FSU alumni, Jennifer (an engineer in our Civil Engineering department), represented our team at the event and got to chat with students about her experience as an engineer at Chastain-Skillman, as well as the many internships and full-time opportunities that CS has to offer.
We are always thrilled to share in the excitement of engineering with bright, eager-to-learn individuals at career fairs and beyond. Although we attended our last career fair for the month of January, we are just getting started!
Next month, Chastain-Skillman is branching out to career fairs across the Southeastern United States— specifically in Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee.
