At Chastain-Skillman, we recruit top talent. Our team is currently seeking a Water/Wastewater Senior Project Engineer with a passion for hands-on learning to join our team in either our Lakeland or Orlando office.

The qualified individual will be an experienced Senior Project Engineer who completes the full scope of work from planning and design through construction.  The Senior PE will work with a team of Engineers, Designers and CAD Technicians, completing a wide range of water and wastewater design projects for various public and private sector clients.   Project types could include, water and wastewater treatment, pump stations, linear pipeline, and utility masterplans.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 8-15 years of progressive experience in a consulting engineering firm providing water/wastewater design.
  • Working knowledge of process related design and linear pipeline disciplines and the ability to coordinate and complete all design activities thereof.
  • Professional registration in Florida or able to obtain registration within 6 months.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, WaterGems, SewerGems and other design/modeling software a plus.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of design document production and presentation software.
  • Communications, negotiations, and technical writing skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning, conducting, and coordinating detailed phases of engineering work for municipal utility projects.
  • Requires judgement in independent evaluation and selection of project elements, systems, and processes.
  • Ability to document and defend basis for how decisions were reached.
  • Listen and understand client/project needs and develop responsive engineering solutions while maintaining schedules and budgets.
  • Represent the firm in project-related meetings; may require travel during the day or overnight trips.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals.
  • Supervise and/or coordinate the project work of engineers or technicians.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff in municipal utility design, and permitting.
  • Be able to build and maintain relationships with clients, partnering teams, and community stakeholders.
