Chastain-Skillman’s Kevin Albrecht recently received the Young Engineer of the Year Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers Ridge Branch of the Florida Section. Kevin thoroughly embodies the qualities valued for this award: integrity, service, technical ability and a desire to advance the profession and help others.

Kevin leads Chastain-Skillman’s Water Resources Team and has developed more than a dozen regional watershed management plans throughout central Florida. He currently supports several municipalities managing their MS-4 system and stormwater permits, in addition to helping clients develop stormwater improvement projects.  He is known to go above and beyond, not only providing quality engineering work, but also educating and garnering public support for projects.

Kevin additionally takes the time to contribute to the development of the civil engineering profession. Last year, Kevin presented at the 2015 ASCE Annual Water Resources Conference in Orlando Florida, addressing the problem of how to design effective stormwater management systems.  Kevin also serves on the legislative committee for Florida Stormwater Association, advocating for effective stormwater rules and regulations.

It is a priority for Kevin to take the time to mentor younger engineers and contribute to public service by participating in many events that serve his local community. He coordinated Chastain-Skillman’s corporate team in the Lakeland Cardboard Boat Challenge, which raised public awareness about the city’s lakes and their importance to our environment.  Kevin also regularly performs pro-bono engineering work to help disadvantaged communities navigate challenging regulatory issues.

Kevin’s career is a testament to the standards and values of the ASCE. He strives to be an effective liaison between the public and regional agencies.  He does an exceptional job of blending his technical abilities with a sense of scientific diplomacy to serve the public’s interests and improve the community.  Chastain-Skillman is proud to have Kevin on our team of professional engineers.
