The Lakeland Fire Department held its groundbreaking for Station 7 in Southwest Lakeland on Monday. It will be located at the Lakeland Linder Regional Airport and will act as a community station as well as an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Station. This unique design only exists on less than a handful of stations in the state of Florida.

Chastain-Skillman teamed with Lunz Prebor Fowler Architects to create the best design possible for this ARFF Station. We also provided engineering design and survey services on this project. Once completed the station will be 15,900 square feet and will house five bays, Fire Engine 71, two ARFF units and a heavy rescue vehicle. The station will be fully functioning with a staff on 24-hour rotation. The station is expected to be completed by summer 2014.
