CS designed a triplex master lift station that serves a 1.4 MGD treatment plant
The Allred Wastewater Treatment Plant provides treatment of wastewater from the central part of Auburndale. The plant was designed by Chastain-Skillman (CS) in the 1970s and has been upgraded it several times.
The original master lift station was severely deteriorated due to hydrogen sulfide. CS evaluated rehabilitating the existing station versus constructing a new one. Due to bypass pumping cost associated with the rehabilitation option, a new station was the most cost-effective approach.
The new lift station is a triplex pump station with new motor controls, and instrumentation. CS’s design allowed the new station to be constructed and the old station demolished with minimal bypass pumping. Because of limited space, the new lift station was installed by tremie method rather than conventional excavation.
