This new fire station provides enough space for 10 firefighters and three fire trucks.

The newly constructed Polk County Fire Rescue Station 23 on Kathleen Road includes the construction of a 11,600 SF fire rescue station that houses up to 10 fire department staff/residents and three fire truck apparatus.

CS collaborated with The Lunz Group on this project, providing endangered species evaluations, site planning, permit application packages, civil design & construction plans, and limited construction services. CS also sub-contracted additional firms to provide services such as geotechnical coordination and landscape and irrigation services.

The completed building includes a residential area that sleeps 10, a kitchen, dining area, a community day room space, a training room, and an (unlocked) lobby that can be used as a safe haven for infant drop-offs.

Obstacles encountered included working with a contractor that was from outside the area. They were unfamiliar with local protocol, standards, and specifications so communication was frequent and robust.
