The 1st Street Streetscape Project is part of the Lake Wales Connected – Downtown Revitalization Plan that the City of Lake Wales (City) has adopted to transform the downtown area. In 2021, the Chastain-Skillman, Inc. (CS) team was selected as the top-ranked firm to provide Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, Subsurface Utility Engineering (CivilSurv), Landscape Architecture (S&ME), Traffic Signalization, Lighting/Electrical and Fiber (CivilSurv and Ham Engineering), Site Work Permitting, Bid Support, and Limited Construction Observation & Certification services for the City’s 1st Street Streetscape Project.
The CS Survey team provided Terrestrial LiDAR 3D Scanning Survey services for the 1st Street Streetscape project.
The CS survey team was responsible for providing a specific purpose and topographic survey of 1st Street from W. Johnson Avenue North to Dr. JA Wiltshire Avenue W. in Lake Wales, FL. This included right-of-way line location based on field monumentation, depicting provided and/or visual easements, and preparing copies of the signed and sealed surveys.
Additionally, the CS Survey team provided Terrestrial LiDAR 3D Scanning Survey services of the route. This included conducting office research, field coordination, and quality control measures as deemed necessary; using a Trimble TX8 laser scanner to scan the route, and classifying the point cloud into regions such as buildings, ground/pavement surface, vegetation, etc.
Once complete, CS provided the City of Lake Wales with 3D PDFs, mesh networking, and digital elevation models of the route. Utilizing Pix4D and Trimble Business Center software, this allows the CS team to provide the City with quality reports for quality assurance. CS also provided the City with access to 3D models through a SharePoint cloud hosted through Pix4D, allowing City staff to view reports and models at their convenience.
